Allergy Treatment

One of the most common complaints that we encounter at Wiseman Family Practice is the manifestation of seasonal and other specific allergies. Those who move to Central Texas can attest to the unique environmental conditions that compromise people’s lives daily. Though much is known about general environmental and food allergies, less is known about more subtle causes such as cleaning and bathing products, plastics, cookware, municipal water, among others. In the last 100 years there have been over 70,000 new chemicals commercially produced and most, according to the EPA, have never been tested for safety.

Many of these chemicals have and are continuing to be used in the most important areas of our daily life. Here at Wiseman Family Practice, we feel it is important and necessary to address these more insidious causes of allergies and chronic disease. Along with these factors, we may recommend a comprehensive skin test for known trees, weeds, grasses, dust mites, animal danders, molds, and foods, while using the latest in immunotherapy treatment. Immunotherapy is a therapy used to decrease sensitivity to the substances that cause allergies, known as allergens. Small doses of specific allergens are administered in increased amounts over a several month period for resolution of symptoms. This treatment is safe, effective, and often insurance covered. We also use our Wiseman Health Seasonal Support, a supplement specifically formulated to help with seasonal and environmental changes.
